Job summary

BRE is seeking an early-career structural fire engineer to join the Built Environment team in Watford. You will apply your postgraduate research, modelling and analytical skills to support fire safety research, consultancy and testing with government and private sector clients.

The role combines hands-on analysis, reporting and collaborative work on real projects, with a hybrid pattern of three days on site and site visits. You will contribute to fire safety design and policy-influencing outputs.

Qualifications

Postgraduate qualification in structural fire engineering or related field with fire/modelling content.
Experience with finite element analysis and related modelling tools (SAFIR preferred).
Strong numerical, analytical and data interpretation skills.
Ability to read construction drawings and work with technical documentation.

Responsibilities

Support fire safety analysis and research projects involving structural fire experiments, numerical analysis and site investigations.
Prepare clear technical reports and project outputs; review drawings and project evidence.
Contribute to proposals and help deliver work to the agreed scope and deadlines.
Represent BRE in project meetings and technical discussions where appropriate.
