Job summary

King’s Ely in Ely, Cambridgeshire, invites applications for a Graduate Organ Scholar on a one-year placement to work with the Cathedral and King’s Ely music program. The post-holder will support choral services, accompany performances and rehearsals, and contribute to the education of choristers and the Sixth Form choral scholars.

Reporting to the Girls Choristers’ Director and the Principal, the appointee will engage in a vibrant musical community, with opportunities to contribute to concerts

Qualifications

• Undergraduate degree required or equivalent.
• ARCO or equivalent qualification preferred.
• Proven competence as an organist/accompanist and choir training experience welcome.

Responsibilities

• Accompany cathedral services.
• Play for school services in the cathedral or other school venues.
• Accompany rehearsals of choristers and sixth form choral scholars.
• Assist in training of probationers and in teaching music theory to choristers.
• Prepare sixth form choral scholars for services.
• Maintain the girl choristers' library.
• Assist with organising concerts, tours, broadcasts and recordings.
