Job summary

Ontic is seeking an Assistant Buyer to join the Staverton-based Supply Chain team. The role is development-focused, suitable for graduates or those with early purchasing experience, and emphasizes hands-on learning, relationship building, and proactive problem solving.

You will help manage orders, engage with suppliers, and learn how sourcing decisions impact the business. The role offers exposure to engineering, production, quality, planning, and finance.

Qualifications

• A recent graduate or apprentice ready for greater responsibility.
• Experience in purchasing, procurement, planning, or a commercial environment is welcome.
• Curious, eager to learn and proactive.

Responsibilities

• Raising and managing purchase orders.
• Speaking with suppliers about pricing, availability and delivery dates.
• Following up on outstanding orders and helping to resolve delays.
• Requesting and comparing supplier quotations.
• Keeping purchasing information accurate and up to date.
• Working with teams across Ontic to solve day-to-day supply issues.
• Supporting supplier meetings and performance reviews.
• Help identify supply risks and improvement opportunities.
• Learning to work with bills of materials, specifications and technical information.
• Supporting sourcing, cost-saving and continuous improvement projects.
