Job summary

Ontic is seeking an Assistant Buyer to join our Staverton-based Supply Chain team. This development-focused role offers exposure to suppliers, engineering, production, quality, planning and finance, with opportunities to learn and grow beyond basic PO processing.

You may be a recent graduate or have some procurement or operations experience. You will build relationships, contribute to cost-saving projects and develop your purchasing skills in a collaborative environment.

Qualifications

• Recent graduate in business, supply chain, procurement, engineering or a related subject.
• Apprenticeship or equivalent practical experience.
• One or two years’ experience in a procurement, manufacturing, engineering or commercial environment.
• Strong organisational and communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Raising and managing purchase orders.
• Speaking with suppliers about pricing, availability and delivery dates.
• Following up on outstanding orders and helping to resolve delays.
• Requesting and comparing supplier quotations.
• Keeping purchasing information accurate.
• Working with teams across Ontic to solve day-to-day supply issues.
• Supporting supplier meetings and performance reviews.
• Helping to identify supply risks and improvement opportunities.
• Learning how to work with bills of materials, specifications or technical information.
• Supporting sourcing, cost-saving and continuous improvement projects.
