Job summary

UK Event Medical Services (UKEMS) is recruiting Urgent Care Assistants and Emergency Care Assistants to join our North West team in Preston. You will work within a 24/7 operation, providing high-quality care in medical and trauma situations, and supporting inter-hospital transfers.

We require FREC 4 or equivalent, a full UK driving licence, and physical fitness to lift 70 kg with a colleague. Shifts are flexible, with up to 40+ hours weekly and a mix of days and nights.

Qualifications

• FREC 4 or equivalent qualification is essential.
• Knowledge of current operational procedures and clinical practices; awareness of health and safety legislation.
• Full UK driving licence required; a clean licence is preferred; be able to be declared on application.
• Physically capable of lifting approximately 70 kg with a colleague.

Responsibilities

• Drive UKEMS vehicles under emergency, urgent and normal driving conditions.
• Complete patient report forms, including police/court statements when required.
• Safely transfer patients to and from vehicles using proper equipment and handling.
• Undertake dynamic risk assessments on arrival at scenes.
• Communicate with patients, relatives, colleagues and other emergency services.
• Carry out vehicle and equipment checks; report faults and record procedures.
• Assist in managing medical supplies and ensure proper disposal of clinical waste.
• Maintain timely communications with the operations centre.
• Respond as first responder within ECA scope of practice (FREC4).
