Job Overview

Our new Children's Emergency Unit is seeking children's nurses to join our team. You will be part of a friendly, supportive environment providing high-quality paediatric care and excellent patient experience.

We are looking for dynamic, motivated, and dedicated Children's Nurses passionate about Emergency Care. You will work with a multidisciplinary team, including youth workers, mental health teams, safeguarding nurses, and Paediatric Emergency physicians.

We support your professional development through in-house courses such as plastering, cannulation, and EPALS, with experienced paediatric nurses and clinical practice facilitators. Our aim is to help you grow and reach your potential.

The Children's Emergency Unit, opened in November 2024, is a new concept integrating paediatric assessment, urgent treatment, and more. It features resus, high dependency rooms, telemetry, a sensory room, and mental health space, offering unique learning opportunities. Join us at this exciting beginning as we develop this innovative service.

Main duties of the job

The post holder will deliver high-quality care to a defined patient group within hospital or community settings, assessing, planning, implementing, and evaluating evidence-based, individualised care. They will contribute to developing nursing standards and monitor outcomes, continuing their professional development.

The Emergency Department treats around 78,000 patients annually, providing assessment, diagnosis, and treatment for a wide range of conditions. We seek experienced Children's Staff Nurses to enhance our team and uphold our high standards of care.

As a Children's Nurse, you will deliver care within the new Children's Emergency Unit, which includes a sensory room, high dependency cubicles, and resus. You will assess, plan, implement, and evaluate care, ensuring patient safety and dignity. Flexibility to work across all areas and excellent communication skills are essential. You must be comfortable managing the demands of a busy environment and committed to patient advocacy.
