Job summary

Huntsville Hospital is seeking a versatile Emergency Services support technician to assist nursing and medical staff with patient care and clerical duties. You will perform routine patient care, document activities, and help ensure rapid, safe care in a busy ED.

Responsibilities include transporting patients, assisting with procedures, performing phlebotomy when directed, maintaining stock and records in the Med Host/EMR environment, and supporting readiness in line with regulatory standards.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED preferred.
• Prior medical experience preferred.
• BLS for Healthcare Providers required or obtained within provisional period.
• Familiar with emergency procedures and medical terminology.
• Strong communication and prioritization in a fast-paced setting.
• Proficient with MS Excel and Word.

Responsibilities

• Assists physicians and nursing staff in the treatment of patients in Emergency Services.
• Transportation of patients to floor and unit per wheelchair or stretcher.
• Perform phlebotomy as directed per emergency physicians.
• Document patient care activities in Med Host according to department policy.
• Receives calls, directs inquiries, and takes messages.
• Assist with maintaining department readiness and stocking areas.
• Notify trauma alerts and facilitate referrals/transfers with proper paperwork.
• Complete annual requirements within specified time frame.
