Job Description:

Children’s lives can change in an instant in the wake of war, disasters and humanitarian emergencies. We see how vulnerable they are and how much they need our protection.

Joining our Emergency Response Roster means you can be a part of our response, providing immediate support when disaster strikes.

Here's where you come in:

As a Safeguarding Advisor in a Response, you will:

  • Provide safeguarding expertise and support to Response Management and key functions.
  • Ensure safeguarding is embedded in the culture and operations of a Response.
  • Support Management to identify and mitigate safeguarding risks.
  • Provide technical safeguarding guidance and capacity building.
  • Ensure survivor-centred safeguarding incident response.
  • Coordinate with the PSEA Network for safeguarding collaboration and learning.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop and monitor safeguarding action and risk management plan: Collaborate with Management to develop and monitor Safeguarding Action Plan, conduct Safeguarding Risk Assessments, and update the Response Risk Register.
  • Support Leadership to establish a safeguarding culture: Provide key messages and resources, develop plans with Response Leadership, and advise on safeguarding risks.
  • Establish a safeguarding training system: Adapt training materials, conduct or coordinate training quarterly, assess capacity, and build partner safeguarding capacity.
  • Ensure community-based accountability mechanisms: Develop awareness materials, collaborate with the PSEA Network, train staff, and manage safeguarding allegations.
  • Safeguarding incident management and investigations: Develop incident preparedness plans, train teams, manage incidents, coordinate investigations, and ensure survivor-centred case management.
