Here's where you come in:

As a Child Protection in Humanitarian Action (CPHA) Technical Advisor for a response, you will provide strategic development and quality implementation of child protection programming in World Vision’s humanitarian responses. You will lead the designing and developing of proposals to mobilize resources for maintaining or scaling up CPHA response programmes. You will also ensure child protection is mainstreamed in all operations and seek effective collaboration with other sectors to promote integrated programming.

You will provide capacity building for field staff and key stakeholders in CPHA through training and coaching, contributing to improving knowledge and skills of World Vision and partners’ staff in addressing protection concerns of children in crisis. You will share global minimum standards, inter-agency guidance, best practices, etc., with the CPHA and other relevant teams.

To support positioning World Vision in external forums, you will represent World Vision and contribute actively to the work of the cluster/CP AoR at national and local levels. When appropriate, you will also contribute to advocacy efforts and research related to issues concerning crisis-affected children.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Lead the development and timely revision of CPHA strategies and approaches in line with WV’s Response Strategy and the OCHA Humanitarian Response Plan (HRP).
  • Seek collaboration with other sector teams to support integrated programmes for child well-being outcomes.
  • Ensure CP considerations are mainstreamed into all WV’s sector strategies and approaches.
  • Support the design and development of new CPHA project proposals/concept notes in coordination with Programme/GAM teams.
  • Provide technical leadership to CPHA-related case studies, learning reviews, and publications within the Response.
  • Promote technical excellence in the application of internal and interagency minimum standards including humanitarian standards, child protection minimum standards, IASC guidelines.
  • Develop contextualized training or guidance materials for CPHA staff and partners based on project needs and assessment findings.
  • Lead the hiring process for qualified local and expatriate staff to implement CPHA and/or integrated programmes.
  • Support the response leadership in partner identification using sector guidance, competency frameworks, and tools to assess partner capacity for CPHA response aligned with WV and interagency standards.
  • Support the Safeguarding Advisor to establish/strengthen safeguarding mechanisms within the Response, including partner agencies.
  • Facilitate training opportunities on CPHA-related topics and integration for CPHA teams and partners.
  • Participate, and lead when possible, in CP AoR/sub-cluster and other task forces for coordination and leveraging WV’s CPHA expertise.
  • Contribute to discussions and development of the Humanitarian Response Plan (HRP) to shape CPHA priorities and strategies in early emergency stages, and facilitate CP coordination tools and guidelines.
  • Build relationships with donors and explore new funding opportunities for CPHA interventions based on evidence.
  • Coordinate with government ministries to strengthen the formal CP system in the Response.
  • Enhance WV’s visibility and leverage CPHA expertise in external engagements.
  • Include CP questions in assessments to identify robust CPHA packages for standalone or integrated responses.
  • Monitor CP concerns regularly, analyze data, and inform future priorities and strategies.
  • Contribute to monitoring and evaluation of CPHA activities for quality assurance and lessons learned.
  • Support MEAL team in developing tools and training staff on CP outcomes measurement.
  • Review grant progress and reports to ensure compliance with WV and donor requirements.
Knowledge, Skills, and Experience:

Minimum requirements:

  • At least 5 years of experience in humanitarian responses within complex, fragile, and conflict contexts, including international experience outside of the home country.
  • Understanding of humanitarian principles, standards, and best practices.
  • Experience working in high-pressure, rapid response environments.
  • Strong communication skills in English (oral and written).
  • Emotional intelligence and ability to work in high-tension, high-security situations.
  • Master's degree in social work, International Development, Child Development, International Relations, Humanitarian Protection, Human Rights, or related field.
  • Capacity to facilitate training and coaching on protection packages and standards.
  • European or international driving license.
  • Over 7 years of technical experience leading child protection responses in humanitarian settings.
  • Experience mentoring staff and mainstreaming CP in other sectors.
  • Experience in donor project design and proposal development.
  • Ability to develop and facilitate training across cultures and languages.
  • Experience working in fragile/humanitarian contexts preferred.
  • Knowledge of humanitarian architectures, cluster approach, standards, and funding cycle.

Additional skills:

  • Effective communication in English; other UN languages preferred.
  • Ability to travel domestically and internationally.
  • Willingness to work long hours during emergency responses.
  • Security training such as HEAT preferred.
  • Experience in other sectors like Education, ECD, MHPSS, Food Security, or Cash is a plus.
