Full Time, Permanent
Bristol City Council’s Emergency Preparedness and Resilience Team (EPRT) are looking for two dynamic and enthusiastic Emergency Planning Officers to join our busy and hardworking team.
You will join a small team of experienced professionals committed to ensuring the City Council is prepared for, and able to respond to, and recover from, emergencies or disruptive challenges affecting the City, the Council, and communities.
You will possess current knowledge of civil contingency legislation, relevant regulations, and multi-agency resilience practices, including business continuity. You should have excellent planning and organizational skills, capable of delivering effective emergency plans from inception to validation.
We seek someone with diverse skills to bring emergency planning, training, and exercises to life for varied audiences inside and outside the Council. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, along with a genuine enthusiasm for effective emergency planning, are essential to support Bristol’s citizens, collaborate with multi-agency partners, and maintain service continuity during crises.
Bristol is a vibrant city with environmental, economic, and infrastructural risks and opportunities, always prioritizing the welfare of its diverse communities.
We look for a 'people-focused' individual to help build resilience, support risk mitigation strategies, and ensure our planning supports and empowers communities affected by unforeseen events.
Knowledge of Bristol’s communities and infrastructure is desirable but not essential. The ability to work collaboratively with a small team and diverse stakeholders—including emergency services, council teams, voluntary agencies, and businesses—is crucial.
The team operates a 24/7 duty officer rota, which you must be willing to participate in. An additional standby duty allowance is provided. Candidates should live or plan to live within 1.5 hours of Bristol’s Temple Street offices.
