Job description

With an increasing demand for urgent care, we are seekingthe right person to join our workforce within our Walk in Centre. We wouldwelcome applications from Emergency Nurse Practitioners and ParamedicPractitioners, all based within our Community Hospital in Woking, Surrey.

The Walk in Centre provides access to urgent care, 7 days aweek, 365 days a year. As a clinician within the Walk in Centre, you will workas an independent, autonomous practitioner providing high quality, evidencebased, patient centred care. Responsible for utilising expert diagnostic andclinical skills to provide unscheduled medical care and management of a diverserange of patients with undifferentiated and undiagnosed minor illnesses andinjuries. This will include children over the age of 2 and adults.

There are excellent opportunities for training, includingnon-medical prescribing, with support for this by an experienced Clinical Leadwho will encourage your personal development. The post offers staff benefits aswell as Agenda for Change.

Full and part time hours are available over a 7-day week,365 days a year, working shifts to cover opening hours of 08:00 20:00hrs.

Main duties of the job

Towork as an autonomous practitioner, providing completed episodes of care toindividuals.

Workwithin agreed guidelines and protocols where they exist and having autonomous decision-makingcapacity in the absence of guidelines.

Whereapplicable, prescribe within knowledge and skills, and in accordance with nationaland local guidelines.

Workwithin scope of practice using specialist knowledge in relationto minor injuries and health problems, and drawing on relevant experience, todeliver quality patient care.

Workin partnership with other health and social care providers.

Provideservice users with the opportunity to contribute to the ongoing development ofthe service.

To undertake prioritisation of serviceusers according to medical need.

Interventions are timely and may includeemergency and surgical invasive procedures, administration of emergencytherapies, and urgent medications.

To contribute to the ongoing developmentof clinical guidelines, reflecting best evidence-based practice.

Referrals to both primary and secondaryservices are made in line with agreed guidelines and with clear,contemporaneous notes, which accurately reflect the consultation and reasonsfor referral.

Supply and administer medications inaccordance with legislation and organisational policies.

  • Experience of multi-disciplinary working.
