Job summary

NHS National Services Scotland invites applications for Consultant Emergency Physicians to join the Emergency Department at Victoria Hospital, Kirkcaldy. The department handles about 72,000 annual attendances, with ~25% paediatrics, and operates a 24-hour rota for trainees and senior staff.

Salary ranges from £115,331 to £153,247 per annum. Applicants will join a motivated team, with opportunities to develop specialist interests in Emergency Medicine and teaching for junior doctors.

Qualifications

• Full GMC Registration, a license to practise and eligible for inclusion in the GMC Specialist Register.
• Higher specialist training leading to CCT or CESR (or CESR-Portfolio path for non-UK applicants).
• Non-UK applicants must demonstrate equivalent training to practise as an eligible specialist in the UK.

We are looking to welcome new colleagues to join an enthusiastic, motivated and supportive team of 23 Consultant Emergency Physicians (19 WTE) dedicated to providing care that is patient-centred, safe and clinically effective.

You will work in the Emergency Department at Victoria Hospital, Kirkcaldy, which opened in 2012. The department has an annual attendance of 72000 with approximately 25% paediatrics.

There is a 24-hour middle grade rota filled with a mixture of Trainees from the South-East and East of Scotland rotations, specialty doctors and senior fellows.

We have an excellent relationship and collaborate closely with all in-patient teams. As a department we are committed to teaching and providing a positive experience of EM to our junior doctors. Our trainees rate their experiences in Fife highly and this is recognised regionally and in GMC surveys.

NHS Fife welcomes applications from both newly qualified and established Consultants in Emergency Medicine to join and expand our motivated, enthusiastic and dedicated team. They will be encouraged to develop a specialist interest relevant to Emergency medicine so complementing current Consultants’ interests.

Applicants must have full GMC Registration, a license to practise and eligible for inclusion in the GMC Specialist Register. Those trained in the UK should have evidence of higher specialist training leading to CCT or be within 6 months of confirmed entry from the date of interview or in the process of applying for Portfolio Pathway (CESR). Non UK Applicants - Portfolio Pathway (formerly known as CESR - Certificate of Eligibility for Specialist Registration) route doctors are only eligible to apply for a substantive consultant post once it has been awarded.
