Job summary

An opportunity has arisen for an enthusiastic, well-motivated and organised individual to take on the role of Trauma Audit Research (TARN) and Admin Support Officer for Emergency Care at St Richard's Hospital. This is an Agenda for Change Band 4 Admin and Clerical role.

This role is responsible for the coordination and submission of trauma data to the national TARN database and to liaise with the Trust Information Team. It is also to support Clinical Leads to ensure excellent administrative support for the Emergency Department at St Richard's.

The Trauma and Research Network is a national project aimed at improving the survival of patients suffering major trauma, which is the leading cause of death in people under 40 years of age. The collection of accurate information regarding trauma cases is vital in order to help Health Professionals and managers improve trauma services countrywide.

The post holder will also undertake administrative, clerical and data processing tasks to support administrative tasks for the Emergency Department.

The successful applicant will have excellent communication skills with attention to detail, be able to work independently and prioritise their own workload to meet deadlines, be a confident user of Microsoft Office programmes, be able to collate and maintain data and produce reports after training. Experience with internal IT systems is essential. If you are willing, helpful and hardworking this could be the job for you.

Main duties of the job

To provide administrative support to the Emergency Department incorporating the processing and submission of clinical level data to the Trauma Audit and Research Network (TARN) database, adhering to required submission deadlines and comprehensive data field requirements. To support the development and presentation of trauma reports to meet regulatory requirements along with service audits and peer review process. To support trauma meetings for Urgent and Emergency Care.

This role will undertake a range of administrative duties to support the medical staff and senior nurses, collating information for national data collection and action logs to enhance governance and performance. Maintain quality indicators data for the main department and the Urgent Treatment Centre including breach validation.

Assist in dealing with complaints, PALS requests including producing responses for clinician review and sign off.

Assist in the ordering of equipment for the Emergency Department and the Urgent Treatment Centre to maintain adequate supplies at all times.
