Job summary

University Hospitals Birmingham NHS Foundation Trust is seeking an experienced nurse leader to take 24-hour responsibility for the effective and efficient operational day-to-day management of the Emergency Department at Queen Elizabeth Hospital, Birmingham.

You will provide clinical governance, staff development and training, be accountable for professional standards and lead a multidisciplinary team to deliver patient-centred care and continuous improvement.

Qualifications

• NMC registration as an Adult Nurse required.
• Manchester Triage experience.
• Desirable leadership/healthcare management experience.
• ALS/EPALS/ETC or related leadership courses desirable.
• Substantial NHS emergency medicine experience at Band 6 level or equivalent.

Responsibilities

• 24-hour responsibility for the operation of the Emergency Department.
• Provide clinical governance and staff development/training.
• Lead multi-disciplinary team and maintain high standards of patient care.
• Coordinate patient care, resources and staff performance.
• Support audit, research and teaching to continually improve care and patient experience.
• Ensure safe and effective clinical practice and drive service improvement.
