Job Title: EMEA Engineering Compliance Lead, Working from Home

Summary of the EMEA Engineering Compliance Lead role: Our client is seeking an experienced Engineering Compliance Lead to support the operational delivery of engineering services across one of their key EMEA accounts. The primary focus of this role is to strengthen statutory compliance within the contract, drive adherence to regulatory standards, and improve overall engineering governance. This position requires strong technical expertise, proactive leadership, and a deep understanding of UK Government organisations and facilities management operations.

EMEA Engineering Compliance Lead Deliverables / Outcomes (include but are not limited to):

  1. Lead initiatives to raise and sustain statutory compliance levels across all engineering activities within the account.
  2. Take full accountability for the engineering function, ensuring robust operational delivery, governance, and performance management.
  3. Develop and implement engineering compliance frameworks aligned with UK Government regulations and local statutory requirements across EMEA regions.
  4. Monitor and report on compliance metrics, ensuring accurate documentation, risk identification, and corrective action planning.
  5. Collaborate with facilities management teams, contractors, and suppliers to ensure consistent adherence to technical standards and legal obligations.
  6. Act as a subject matter expert in statutory compliance, providing guidance and assurance to stakeholders and operational teams.
  7. Conduct audits, support external inspections, and drive continuous improvement in safety, reliability, and compliance culture.
  8. Contribute to strategic planning, budgeting, and performance reviews for engineering operations.
  9. Serve as a point of escalation and accountability during incidents or compliance breaches, leading incident response and resolution.

Skills, Experience & Qualifications:

  • Minimum of 7–10 years’ experience in engineering, facilities management, or building services, with at least 3–5 years in a compliance-focused or senior technical leadership role.
  • Extensive knowledge of statutory compliance within UK regulations, including Building Regulations, Health & Safety legislation, PUWER, and associated public sector frameworks.
  • Proven ability to navigate and engage with UK Government organisations, understanding their operational structures, procurement protocols, and regulatory expectations.
  • Strong engineering background, supported by technical qualifications such as HNC/HND, BEng, or equivalent in Mechanical, Electrical, or Building Services Engineering.
  • Chartered Engineer (CEng) status or membership of a relevant professional body (e.g., CIBSE, IMechE, IET) is desirable and adds credibility at the EMEA level.
  • Experience managing engineering functions across multi-site or regional accounts, preferably with exposure to international compliance standards across EMEA.
  • Excellent stakeholder management and communication skills, with a collaborative approach to engaging clients, contractors, and internal FM teams.
  • Competency in developing and delivering compliance frameworks, audit schedules, and risk management strategies across operational environments.
  • Strong reporting and analytical skills, with experience in producing compliance dashboards, statutory risk registers, and improvement plans.
  • Familiarity with FM-related disciplines, including planned/reactive maintenance, asset management, and contractor performance monitoring.
  • Commercial awareness and leadership skills to influence decisions, support strategic goals, and enhance contract performance.
