Job summary

Stripe is seeking an Employment Counsel to advise the People team and partners on employment law across Europe, the Middle East, and Africa (EMEA). You will proactively manage employment risks and draft agreements with cross‑functional teams.

Ideal candidates have 4+ years of specialist employment law experience, a qualification to practice in Ireland or England & Wales, and strong communication and project management skills. A hybrid in‑office model is offered.

Qualifications

• 4+ years of specialist, post‑qualification employment law experience at a law firm or in‑house legal department.
• Qualification to practice law in Ireland or England and Wales.
• Ability to analyse employment law matters of varying complexity, exercise sound judgment, and make well‑reasoned decisions amid ambiguity and incomplete information.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to work effectively with multiple stakeholders while maintaining discretion, confidentiality, and professionalism.
• Strong organisational and project‑management skills, with the ability to manage multiple long‑ and short‑term workstreams, collaborate across teams, and support international employment law matters outside EMEA when needed.

Responsibilities

• Partner with our People team to provide subject‑matter expertise on employment issues, including recruiting, hiring, performance management, compensation and benefits, leaves of absence, people data privacy, internal investigations, working time, and HR best practices
• Proactively review employment policies to support legal compliance and consistency with best practices
• Collaborate with cross‑functional teams to support and maintain employment compliance
• Draft and negotiate employment‑related agreements, including offer letters, contractor agreements, and vendor agreements
• Handle pre‑litigation and litigation matters
• Monitor developments in employment, AI, and data protection law and advise on developments that may affect Stripe
