Job summary

Stripe is seeking a seasoned Chief Compliance Officer to lead regulatory compliance, financial crimes and enterprise risk across EMEA. You will shape strategy and serve as the public face of compliance in the region.

You will manage MLROs, oversee licensing, and drive risk-based programs across regulators and industry partners.

The role requires deep regulatory expertise, senior leadership experience in fintech or payments, and a proven track record delivering tech-forward compliance.

Qualifications

• 12+ years of experience in compliance and financial crime, with significant focus on financial services, fintech, or payments.
• Extensive people management experience, including leading geographically dispersed teams through organizational and regulatory change.
• Deep and current knowledge of regulatory compliance and AML/financial crime requirements across key EMEA markets, with expertise with FCA.
• Demonstrated experience in senior compliance roles in EMEA.

Responsibilities

• Strategic Leadership: Develop and implement a robust and scalable compliance strategy for EMEA, aligning with global FinCRO objectives and business goals.
• Team Management: Lead, mentor, and inspire a high-performing team of compliance, risk management and financial crimes professionals across EMEA.
• AML/Financial Crimes Program Oversight: Own and enhance the regional AML, sanctions, and ABC programs for EMEA, working closely with MLROs.
• Regulatory Management: Serve as the primary point of contact for financial regulators across EMEA and lead regulatory engagement.
• Partner and Relationship Management: Build and maintain strong relationships with banks, payment networks, and third-party providers.
• Advisory and Consultation: Ensure Stripe's regulatory frameworks are fit for local requirements and provide guidance on market expansion and product changes.
• Governance and Reporting: Mature the regional governance framework to streamline decision-making.
