Job description

Working: The role offers flexible working but does require engineers on site for 3 days per week and is on a secure site where SC clearance is needed.

We are looking for an EMC Project Engineer to join one of our defence clients in their EMC Project Team, supporting programmes throughout their product lifecycle from concept to disposal.

The primary focus is establishing, progressing, and delivering risk reduction and qualification strategies to bring products into service.

The EMC Project Engineer role involves writing Environmental Requirement Specifications (ERS) and related documentation, including EMC Control Plans, Proving Plans, Proving Requirements, and Proving Instructions, supporting product development and qualification. The role may include reviewing hardware and conducting informal hardware testing.

The EMC department is divided between a hands-on test team working in a state-of-the-art EMC facility and a highly skilled project consultancy team embedded across projects to ensure good EMC practices and design.

Skills and Experience:

  • Higher education or experience in Electronics, Electrical, Physics, EMC, or related fields
  • Understanding of EMC (Electromagnetic Compatibility) and design principles
  • Ability to meet deadlines and work within budgets
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Professional demeanor and adaptability to evolving project needs

Desirable Experience:

  • Experience in the defence sector
  • Knowledge of military EMC standards (e.g., Defence Standard 59-, AECTP500, Mil-Std-461, RTCA DO160 / EUROCAE ED-14)
  • Previous support experience in electromagnetic compatibility
