Job description

Working: The role offers flexible working but does require engineers on site for 3 days per week at a secure site where SC clearance is needed. We are looking for an EMC Project Engineer to join our defence client’s EMC Project Team, supporting programmes throughout their product lifecycle from concept to disposal. The main responsibilities include establishing, progressing, and delivering risk reduction and qualification strategies to bring products into service. The role involves writing Environmental Requirement Specifications (ERS), EMC Control Plans, Proving Plans, and related documentation, reviewing hardware, and possibly conducting hands-on hardware reviews and informal testing. The EMC department includes a test team working in state-of-the-art facilities and a consultancy team embedded across projects to ensure good EMC practices and design.

Skills and Experience
  • Higher education or experience in Electronics, Electrical, Physics, EMC, or similar fields.
  • Understanding of EMC and design principles.
  • Ability to meet deadlines and work within budget.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Professional manner and adaptability to evolving project needs.
Desirable Experience
  • Experience in the defence sector.
  • Knowledge of military EMC standards (e.g., Defence Standard 59-41 / 59-411, AECTP500, Mil-Std-461, RTCA DO160 / EUROCAE ED-14).
  • Previous support experience in electromagnetic compatibility.
