Job summary

Deep Sea Electronics Ltd is a global leader in generator controllers, automatic transfer switch controllers, battery chargers, and vehicle/off-highway control systems. We seek an embedded software engineer to own the software lifecycle, developing in embedded C for ARM Cortex M MCUs across low-level and application layers.

You will collaborate with electronics engineers and PC software teams; design, code, and test; and participate in customer site visits and training.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of embedded systems experience in a commercial engineering environment.
• Strong experience with ARM Cortex microcontrollers.
• Proficient in Embedded C and Embedded Linux.
• Experience with Yocto build systems and RTOS.
• Ability to translate requirements into technical specifications and system designs.

Responsibilities

• Design and implement embedded software for devices from requirements to deployment.
• Translate market requirements into technical specifications.
• Develop, code, test and debug system software for ARM Cortex M MCUs.
• Review code and design; interface with hardware and PC software teams.
• Perform product testing and fix software issues as required.
• Write and maintain development documentation including specs, test plans and design descriptions.
• Use the company version control system to manage software in controller projects.
• Visit customer sites and attend training courses identified and provided by the company.

Deep Sea Electronics is a global leader in the design and manufacture of generator controllers, automatic transfer switch controllers, battery chargers, and vehicle and off-highway control systems. With over 200 employees across four continents, we supply our products to customers in more than 150 countries, both directly from our UK head office and through a well-established international distributor network.

Working as an individual or as part of a team, this embedded software engineering role covers the full software lifecycle including, requirements capture, design, development and verification. The role will involve developing software, primarily in embedded C for ARM Cortex M series microcontrollers, both at low level and application level. The role exposes the engineer to a wide range of industrial control technologies and applications.

Key Duties & Responsibilities:

• Design and implement software of embedded devices and systems from requirements to production and commercial deployment.
• Translate the market requirements into technical product specification.
• Design, develop, code, test and debug system software, according the technical product specification
• Review code and design
• Interface with hardware design and development
• Interface with the PC software design and development
• Perform product testing on your own and others software as required.
• Fixing software issues and optimizing the products
• Write and maintain development documentation including specifications, test plans and design descriptions.
• Make use of the company version control system to write software in controller manner.
• Visit customer sites and attend training courses identified and provided by the company.

Requirements:

• Expert in Embedded C
• Embedded Linux
• Yocto Build systems
• Real Time Operating Systems, such as Free RTOS / Segger emBOS / ThreadX
• Git and GitFlow
• Security techniques and cybers security analysis
• Familiar with stage gated / agile development approaches
• Comfortable collaborating closely with electronics engineers on embedded systems
• Use to work to a high-quality standard
• Excellent team player with problem solving and trouble-shooting capabilities
