Job summary

ECM Selection (Holdings) Limited seeks an experienced embedded C/C++ developer to join its multi-disciplinary engineering team near Cambridge. The role offers variety, direct client contact, and the chance to impact medical technology used in labs, hospitals, and personal devices.

You will contribute across all project stages from concept to manufacture, working close to hardware and applying best software engineering practices, with opportunities to work on Linux, RTOS, and bare metal targets.

Qualifications

• Solid commercial embedded software development experience in C/C++ (and ideally Qt).
• Strong communication and team-working skills with client contact.
• Familiarity with medical software development standards such as IEC 62304 would be a bonus.

Responsibilities

• Develop embedded software for on-board systems in lab and hospital devices, drug delivery systems or sensors.
• Contribute across all project stages from concept through design and implementation to manufacture.
• Coordinate with clients and multidisciplinary teams to gather requirements and provide progress updates.

Develop embedded C and C++ software to bring new medical technology to life

Looking for an embedded development role with variety, client-contact, and a positive real-world impact? This role may be just the ticket: a well-established medical technology company is seeking an experienced C or C++ developer to join their multi-disciplinary engineering team. Here, you would work on projects which could range from on-board software for lab and hospital devices through to compact drug delivery systems or sensors for personal use. In each case, your work would make a direct positive impact on the lives of patients.

You will be involved in all project stages, from early concepts through detailed design and implementation, and ultimately into manufacture. As the role involves substantial client interaction, you will need strong communication and team working skills as well as strong software engineering skills.

You will need:

• A strong academic background in Computer Science, Electronics, or a similarly applicable subject
• Substantial commercial embedded software development experience with skills in C and/or C++ (and ideally Qt framework). Target systems include bare metal, RTOS, and Linux
• A solid appreciation of software engineering best practice, including version control, and manual testing and automated software testing with Python
• Experience working close to the hardware - for instance board bring-up or test
• Familiarity with medical software development standards such as IEC 62304 would be a bonus

The role is on-site, based close to Cambridge. There may be occasional travel to visit clients or suppliers both within the UK or overseas.
