Embedded Software Engineers are responsible for the architecture, design, implementation, testing, and maintenance of the embedded software used to manage and control ALL.SPACE’s terminal products. This includes embedded real-time control software, web interfaces, and REST API interfaces. The engineer will work as part of an Agile team delivering features according to a release roadmap to meet product requirements.

Roles and Responsibilities

  • Perform requirements analysis by collaborating with internal and external stakeholders to understand the technical needs.
  • Create architecture and design documentation for new software features.
  • Deliver high-quality, tested software features for an embedded real-time system using C++.
  • Implement automated unit and integration tests.
  • Test and debug functionality in simulation and on target hardware.
  • Investigate and resolve software issues promptly.
  • Apply design patterns and best practices to ensure quality, security, modifiability, and extensibility.
  • Contribute within an Agile framework, promoting best practices.
  • Have experience in C++ development on embedded systems.
  • Successfully deliver reliable, real-time embedded functionalities.
  • Experience across the full lifecycle: design, development, testing, and maintenance.
  • Proficiency with Linux and FreeRTOS operating systems.
  • Good understanding of physical interfaces such as Serial, Ethernet, SPI, CAN, etc.
  • Hands-on hardware debugging and performance characterization skills.
  • Familiarity with Source Code Management (git) and CI/CD pipelines.
  • Generate appropriate documentation (Jira, Confluence).
  • Perform peer reviews and testing of colleagues’ work.
  • Collaborate effectively in a high-paced agile team.
  • Strong self-organization and attention to detail.
  • Problem-solving mindset and team-oriented attitude.

Additional Notes

  • This role requires working at ALL.SPACE’s Reading sites due to hardware control and debugging needs. It may be a hybrid role, with some on-site work.
