Job summary

ALTEN, a global engineering and technology consultancy, is seeking an Embedded Software Engineer to join its team in Loughborough, on-site and full-time. You will develop and validate control software used in advanced engineering applications, work across software, controls, and test engineering, and contribute to the product development lifecycle.

Your role involves writing in C, integrating with Simulink models, supporting lab testing, and ensuring requirements are captured and delivered, with

Qualifications

• Experience developing embedded or control system software.
• Proficiency in C programming and software debugging.
• Experience with control algorithms and Simulink models.
• Understanding of the software development lifecycle and verification activities.
• Experience with bench testing or lab-based engineering programmes.
• Strong problem-solving and root cause investigation skills.
• Ability to trace software requirements through development and testing.
• Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.

Responsibilities

• Develop Cell Voltage Monitoring software, including design, coding, testing, and handover.
• Generate software lifecycle documentation and development deliverables.
• Support bench testing activities and validation of systems.
• Investigate controller behaviour and software performance issues.
• Collaborate with cross‑disciplinary teams to deliver validated solutions.
