Job Description:

We are seeking a Senior Embedded Design Engineer to join Ripcord Designs. This role offers flexible hours within a 40-hour workweek. Ripcord Designs is a behind-the-scenes consultancy working on diverse projects in IoT, medical devices, and robotics. We value problem solvers who love engineering, are eager to learn, and can work independently or as part of a team.

Responsibilities include:

• Developing new products from customer requirements
• Writing requirements and system design documentation
• Collaborating with a multidisciplinary team to deliver innovative solutions
• Developing embedded software in C / C++ for bare-metal, RTOS, and embedded Linux environments
• Board bring-up and testing
• Client liaison for integration, commissioning, and troubleshooting
• Understanding compliance and standards for electronic products

This role involves client meetings and technical report writing, requiring professional communication skills.

Minimum Requirements:

• 3+ years of experience in embedded software and electronics design
• Degree in Embedded Systems, Computer Science, or related field
• Proficiency in Embedded C / C++
• Experience with electronic design and real-time systems
• Knowledge of RTOS or Embedded Linux
• Hardware and software debugging skills (JTAG, oscilloscopes, serial comms)
• Proficiency with Altium or similar PCB design tools
• Professional-level English communication skills

Preferred Skills:

• Experience with WIFI, Bluetooth, Zigbee
• Python programming
• Architecting electronic and software designs
