Overview

Loughborough College’s Elite Sport department is a highly successful department with over 2,000 learners. The department offers a wide range of provision up to L4 qualifications, working nationally with a broad range of funded programmes that includes study programmes, apprenticeships, international, adult programmes and the Diploma in Sporting Excellence.

We are seeking to appoint a Lecturer to teach and support elite sport learners. This will include developing both the curriculum and teaching, learning and assessment strategies that support learners progressing through sport talent pathways. The successful candidate will deliver inspiring teaching and learning to ensure all students are supported to succeed, both through face to face and online delivery. Learner progress will be monitored to ensure target grades are met and all learners achieve to the best of their ability.

Responsibilities

The lecturer will:

  • Deliver teaching and learning to elite sport learners, including face to face and online delivery.
  • Develop curriculum and teaching, learning and assessment strategies to support progression through sport talent pathways.
  • Monitor learner progress to ensure target grades are met and learners achieve to the best of their ability.
Qualifications and Experience

The ideal candidate will have:

  • A relevant degree and a teaching qualification.
  • Extensive teaching and vocational experience in further education.
  • Experience of elite sport and working in high performance environments.

As part of this role, there will be a requirement to work both at Loughborough College and other offsite locations. The successful candidate would have a full, valid driving licence and the ability to travel to offsite locations for work.

Skills and Attributes
  • Strong interpersonal and organisational skills and the ability to work effectively with a range of partners.
  • Excellent planning and administration skills and the ability to work to deadlines.
  • Knowledge of a range of teaching methodologies, including online based delivery.
