Job summary

Valard Construction seeks Journeyperson Powerline Technicians for a Tilbury-area role. You will build and maintain distribution systems, reading prints, and performing energized work with safety first in mind.

The position requires a Red Seal/434A and union worksite experience, with compensation offered via hourly rates. Benefits are provided through the union, and the team values mentoring and safety culture.

Qualifications

• Journeyperson Powerline Technician with 434A or Red Seal.
• Experience in utility construction and power distribution.
• Experience with energized work, system switching, and underground installations.
• Valid driver's license and acceptable driving abstract.
• Safety certifications such as Confined Space, UWPC, Working at Heights, First Aid preferred.

Responsibilities

• Maintain poles, towers, and guy wires.
• Install overhead and underground lines and equipment.
• Perform conductor stringing, sagging, clipping, and dead-ending.
• Execute live line switching and switching tasks including reclosers and loop feeds.
• Test and terminate UG cables and install equipment.
• Mentor apprentices and ensure adherence to HSE policies.
• Lead job hazard assessments and fall protection planning.
• Submit daily reports and complete documentation.
