Job summary

Queen Victoria Hospital NHS Foundation Trust is seeking a fellowship-trained Ophthalmology specialist to join the senior clinical team. You will provide extensive clinical and surgical care for anterior segment diseases and general ophthalmology, including oculoplastics, with supervision and progression to independence.

You will train under an Educational Supervisor, align with GMC Good Medical Practice and participate in revalidation, appraisal, research and audit within a high-performing NHS

Qualifications

• Completed specialty training in Ophthalmology
• Fulfil all competencies of the Royal College of Ophthalmologists Specialty Training Curriculum
• Ability to contribute to teaching, audit and research

Responsibilities

• Provide extensive clinical and surgical experience in anterior segment disease (Corneal/External diseases and Refractive) and General Ophthalmology including Oculoplastics
• Diagnose, manage and follow-up patients with anterior segment diseases and undertake related surgery under supervision and independently
• Develop clinical skills and progress to handling increasingly complex caseload
• Undertake unsupervised cataract surgery to a competent level as a fundamental requirement
