Job summary

Fleetwood Town Football Club is seeking a Head of Coach Development to lead the Academy’s coaching practice across all phases. You will set standards, drive a formal observation programme, and ensure coaches are supported to improve and impact player development.

Based at PoolfootFarm, you will work with the Academy Manager and multidisciplinary teams to deliver CPD, development plans and a culture of continuous learning, shaping the footballing pathway through the club’s playing philosophy.

Qualifications

• Advanced Youth Award is required.
• Significant experience in a professional football academy environment.
• Proven ability to develop coaches via observation, feedback and mentoring.
• Experience designing and delivering coach education and CPD programmes.
• Strong understanding of the EPPP and academy football.
• Experience developing coaches across multiple phases.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
• Full driving licence and access to transport.
• Experience in Category 1 or Category 2 academies.
• Experience of first-team integration and player pathways.
• Experience leading an academy-wide coach development programme.
• Experience with a Coach Expertise Framework or similar coaching competency framework.
• Experience developing coaching curricula and/or playing philosophy.

Responsibilities

• Act as a coach educator, mentor and critical friend to support coaches across all academy phases.
• Develop strong professional relationships with coaches, fostering trust and reflection.
• Establish and manage a formal and informal coaching observation programme across the Academy.
• Conduct CEF observations and provide high-quality feedback to coaches.
• Use evidence to identify development priorities and create Development Action Plans.
• Review DAPs regularly and monitor actions throughout the season.
• Support coaches to own their professional development and promote ongoing reflective practice.
