Job summary

Fortress Safety in Wolverhampton is seeking an Electronics Test Engineer to lead testing of safety-critical electronic hardware from design verification to NPI and production. The role is hybrid, with 3–4 days in the office, and reports to the Electronics Engineering Manager.

You will develop test procedures, diagnose hardware faults, and support NPI and manufacturing transfers while working with design engineers to improve testability and reliability.

Qualifications

• Degree or equivalent qualification in a related engineering discipline.
• 3+ years' experience in electronics test, validation or development.
• Strong understanding of analogue and digital circuits.
• Hands-on experience with lab equipment such as oscilloscopes, multimeters, power supplies and signal generators.
• Proven fault-finding skills down to component and board level.
• Ability to read schematics and technical documentation.
• Ability to analyse data and write detailed technical reports.
• Understanding of EMC, safety and relevant compliance standards.

Responsibilities

• Develop and maintain electronic test procedures and test equipment for new and existing products.
• Carry out design verification, validation, functional, environmental and reliability testing.
• Diagnose and repair hardware faults at board and system level.
• Design and commission automated and semi-automated test systems.
• Analyse test results and produce clear technical reports and recommendations.

• Work with design engineers to improve testability and reliability.
• Investigate failures using root cause analysis.
• Help production and quality teams resolve manufacturing and field-return issues.
• Keep test specifications and documentation up to date and compliant with standards.

Based in Wolverhampton (West Midlands) on a hybrid pattern, you'll join our Engineering team and report to the Electronics Engineering Manager. ## **We're flexible on experience**You might currently work as a Test Engineer, Hardware Test Engineer, Test and Validation Engineer or Electronics Engineer. However you got here, we're open to your background. That includes the test equipment and automated test platforms you've used, the scripting and test automation languages you know, the communication protocols you've worked with, and the industry you come from.
