Job summary

Red Bull Powertrains is seeking an Electronics Support Engineer to join the Factory and Rig Systems team in Milton Keynes. This factory-based role focuses on installing, configuring, and maintaining electronics for rigs, dynos, and test facilities to ensure reliable operation from an electronics perspective.

Qualifications

  • Proven experience working with Formula 1 electronics and control systems.
  • Strong understanding of electrical installation practices including MIL-spec wiring and data acquisition systems.
  • Ability to diagnose and resolve software, sensor, wiring and control system issues methodically.
  • Degree-qualified in Electronics Engineering or related discipline.
  • Experience with CAN configuration using CANalyzer or PCAN.
  • Experience in programming (Python, VBA or XML) with ability to interpret MATLAB/Simulink models.

Responsibilities

  • Install, configure and commission electronics systems and components across factory rigs, dynos and test facilities.
  • Maintain and support existing installations, performing fault diagnosis, repairs and root-cause investigations.
  • Monitor health and performance of electrical systems and components under test, resolving issues proactively.
  • Ensure accurate booking of electronics components in parts management systems.
  • Proactively manage spares levels to ensure operational readiness and reliability.
  • Provide feedback to improve dyno and rigs electronics installations.
  • Be an integrated member of the Electronics Support Engineering group.

We have an exciting opportunity for an Electronics Support Engineer – Factory and Rig Systems to join our Electronics Support Group.

Reporting to the Senior Electronics Support Engineer this factory-based role will be responsible for the electronics systems installation, configuration and maintenance to ensure the components under test, as well as the rigs and dynos continue to operate reliably from an electronics perspective.

Key responsibilities of the role:

  • Be instrumental in installing, configuring and commissioning electronics systems and components under test across the factory rigs, dynos and test facilities.
  • Maintain and support existing installations, carrying out fault diagnosis, repairs and root-cause investigations to minimise downtime.
  • Monitor the health and performance of electrical and electronic systems, including on the components under test, identifying and resolving issues proactively.
  • Ensure that the booking of electronics components on the company parts management systems are kept up to date and accurate.
  • Proactively help manage spares levels of electronics components to ensure operational readiness and reliability.
  • Provide feedback and input into improving dyno and rigs electronics installations.
  • To be an integrated member of the Electronics Support Engineering group.

We are looking for someone who:

  • Proven experience working with Formula 1 electronics and control systems, including Motion Applied ATLAS, System Monitor and SECU hardware.
  • Strong understanding of electrical and electronic installation practices, including MIL-spec wiring, sensor technologies and motorsport ECU’s and data acquisition systems.
  • Demonstrated ability to investigate, diagnose and resolve software, sensor, wiring and control system issues using a methodical and analytical approach.
  • Degree-qualified (or equivalent experience) in Electronics Engineering or a similar related discipline, with hands-on experience supporting motorsport electrical and electronic systems.
  • Experience with CAN configuration, testing and fault-finding, ideally using tools such as CANalyzer or PCAN, along with test equipment including oscilloscopes and signal generators.
  • Ideally having experience in programming (Python, VBA or XML) but with the ability to interpret MATLAB Simulink and Stateflow models.
