Job summary

Focus Resourcing is seeking an experienced Electronics Repair Technician to repair and restore high‑value medical and electronic equipment used in healthcare settings across the UK. You will diagnose, repair, test and calibrate devices in a specialist workshop, ensuring high quality standards and traceable documentation.

Based at Reading/Theale with occasional travel, you will read schematics, perform complex repairs, and contribute to process improvements while adhering to ISO and health &

Qualifications

  • Qualification in Electronics or Electrical Engineering (HNC, HND, Degree or equivalent training).
  • Minimum 2 years' experience in electronics/medical device repair.
  • Strong component-level fault-finding and repair experience.
  • Ability to read electronic schematics and technical drawings.
  • Experience using laboratory test equipment including oscilloscope, multimeter, signal generators and bench power supplies.
  • Enhanced DBS check required.

Responsibilities

  • Diagnose and repair complex electronic and medical devices to component level.
  • Carry out fault finding using electronic test equipment.
  • Perform calibration, testing and quality assurance activities.
  • Interpret schematics, technical drawings and manufacturer documentation.
  • Reverse engineer circuits where technical information is unavailable.
  • Source replacement components and repair solutions.
  • Produce accurate repair reports and technical documentation.
  • Develop and improve repair procedures and methodologies.
  • Ensure compliance with ISO standards, regulatory requirements and health & safety procedures.
  • Work collaboratively with engineering, operations and customer support teams.
  • Prioritise workloads to meet production and turnaround targets.

Electronics Repair Technician - Medical Devices

Overview

Our client is seeking an experienced Electronics Repair Technician to repair and restore high‑value medical and electronic equipment used within healthcare environments across the UK. You will work in a specialist workshop, diagnosing, repairing, testing, and calibrating a wide range of sophisticated electronic and medical devices to component level, using your technical expertise to identify faults, carry out complex repairs, and maximise the lifespan of critical healthcare equipment.

Responsibilities

What you will be working on:

  • MRI systems and RF coils
  • Ultrasound probes and imaging systems
  • CT and X‑ray equipment
  • RF Power Amplifiers (RFPAs)
  • Power Supply Units (PSUs)
  • PCB assemblies and complex electronic modules
  • Analogue, digital and RF electronic systems

What you will be doing:

  • Diagnose and repair complex electronic and medical devices to component level
  • Carry out fault finding using electronic test equipment
  • Perform calibration, testing and quality assurance activities

The person: You will be an experienced electronics repair engineer who enjoys investigating faults, solving complex technical problems, and working to exceptionally high‑quality standards. You will be comfortable working independently while contributing to a collaborative engineering team and continuously improving repair processes.

Essential Skills & Experience
  • Qualification in Electronics or Electrical Engineering (HNC, HND, Degree or equivalent training)
  • Minimum 2 years' experience in electronics/medical device repair
  • Strong component‑level fault‑finding and repair experience
  • Ability to read electronic schematics and technical drawings
  • Experience using laboratory test equipment including:
    • Oscilloscopes
    • Multimeters
    • Signal generators
    • Bench power supplies
  • Excellent analytical and troubleshooting skills
  • Strong attention to detail and quality standards
  • Good communication and teamwork skills
  • A proactive, inquisitive approach to problem solving
  • Enhanced DBS check required
