Job summary

Electronic Partners UK is seeking an experienced Electronics Repair Engineer for its Telford workshop. You will diagnose and repair audio/Hi‑Fi equipment and PCB assemblies, using measurement tools to locate faults in power supplies and audio paths.

Applicants must have hands-on component-level repair experience, be proficient with multimeters and oscilloscopes, and document findings clearly. A safe, methodical approach is essential in this role.

Qualifications

• Hands-on experience repairing audio/Hi-Fi equipment or PCBs at component level.
• Ability to investigate faults with a logical, measurement-based approach.
• Strong understanding of electronic components and analogue circuits.
• Confident use of multimeters, oscilloscopes and diagnostic gear.
• Ability to read and interpret circuit diagrams and work without schematics when needed.
• Proficient soldering/desoldering of through-hole and surface-mount parts.
• Commitment to safe working practices with mains-powered equipment.
• Clear documentation of work and results for colleagues.

Responsibilities

• Diagnose and repair electronic faults in audio/Hi-Fi gear and PCBs.
• Trace faults through power supplies and amplifier/audio signal paths.
• Repair boards by replacing faulty components rather than full-board swaps.
• Test repaired equipment thoroughly and perform adjustments/calibration as required.
• Record diagnostic findings, repairs and test results in the service system.
• Assist customer service with technical queries and explanations of findings.
• Review colleagues' repairs when needed and follow workshop procedures.
• Maintain a clean, organized bench and target quality/productivity goals.

Electronics Repair Engineer - Audio / Hi-Fi & Component-Level PCB Repair

We are recruiting an experienced Electronics Repair Engineer for our Telford workshop, with a particular focus on repairing audio and Hi-Fi equipment.

You must have hands-on experience diagnosing and repairing audio/Hi-Fi equipment or electronic circuit boards at component level. This is not an entry-level or trainee position.

We are particularly interested in engineers experienced in repairing amplifiers, Hi-Fi separates, AV receivers and related audio equipment. Applicants with strong component-level PCB repair experience in other equipment are also welcome.

Essential skills and experience

• Demonstrable hands-on experience repairing audio/Hi-Fi equipment or PCBs at component level.
• Ability to investigate faults independently using a logical, measurement-based approach.
• Understanding of electronic components and circuits, including power supplies and analogue electronics.
• Confident use of multimeters, oscilloscopes and appropriate diagnostic equipment.
• Ability to read and interpret circuit diagrams and investigate faults where schematics are unavailable.
• Competent soldering and desoldering, including through-hole and surface-mount components.
• Safe working practices with mains-powered equipment.
• Ability to document work clearly and communicate technical findings to colleagues.

Experience limited to IT support, assembling computers, replacing phone screens or swapping complete circuit boards is not sufficient for this position.

Qualifications

An HNC, ONC, BTEC, City & Guilds, NVQ in Electronics or equivalent is desirable. Relevant practical repair experience is essential; qualifications alone do not meet the requirements.
