Leonardo UK Ltd in Edinburgh is seeking an Electronics Engineer to influence the design, reliability and sustainment of next-generation radar systems. You will work across electronics, systems and software teams to improve resilience and supportability from concept to in-service life. The role emphasizes RAMT, failure analysis and maintainability in a complex, safety-critical environment, with hybrid working in Scotland.

Qualifications

  • Degree in Electronics Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Physics or related discipline.
  • Experience in reliability, maintainability or RAMT activities.
  • Experience with failure investigations and root-cause analysis in electronic products.
  • Familiarity with high-integrity or safety-critical systems.

Responsibilities

  • Collaborate with electronics, systems and software engineers to influence radar product design.
  • Analyse circuits, assemblies and subsystems to understand failure mechanisms and improve resilience.
  • Perform reliability, maintainability and supportability assessments across the lifecycle.
  • Develop FMEA/FMECA and failure analysis activities at component, board and system levels.
  • Support diagnostics, fault-finding and testability strategies for complex electronic systems.
  • Apply RAMT techniques to shape engineering decisions and through-life support.
  • Contribute to root cause investigations and continuous improvement across development and in-service products.

Apply your electronics expertise to influence the design and performance of next-generation radar systems At Leonardo, we're looking for an Electronics Engineer with a passion for reliability, supportability and solving complex engineering challenges. This is not a traditional design role - it’s an opportunity to influence how advanced electronic systems are designed, maintained and sustained throughout their life. Working on cutting-edge radar programmes in Edinburgh, you'll help ensure our systems are robust, supportable and mission-ready from concept through to in-service support and beyond.

What you will do as a Supportability Engineer (Electronics)
  • Work alongside electronics, systems and software engineers to influence the design of advanced radar products
  • Analyse electronic circuits, assemblies and subsystems to understand failure mechanisms and improve product resilience
  • Conduct reliability, maintainability and supportability assessments throughout the engineering lifecycle
  • Develop FMEA/FMECA and failure analysis activities at component, board and equipment level
  • Support diagnostics, fault-finding and testability strategies for complex electronic systems
  • Use RAMT techniques to help shape engineering decisions and optimise through-life support solutions
  • Contribute to root cause investigations and continuous improvement activities across development and in-service products
What you’ll bring
  • Electronics engineering, hardware design, electronic test, systems engineering or product support engineering
  • Understanding of electronic components, circuit design principles and schematic interpretation
  • Failure investigation, root cause analysis or reliability engineering within electronic products
  • Reliability, maintainability, supportability, RAMT or design assurance activities
  • Working with complex, high-integrity or safety-critical systems
  • Degree in Electronics Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Physics or a related discipline
