Platform Recruitment invites an RF/Electronics Engineer to join a growing photonic networking company in Torquay. You will design high-speed interfaces for photonic devices, build 3D EM models, and verify results with measurements up to 50 GHz, while collaborating closely with a hands-on hardware team.

The ideal candidate has a strong RF/microwave foundation, experience in high-frequency design and measurement, and a PhD or Master’s degree with relevant industry experience.

• Strong grounding in RF/microwave engineering, electromagnetics and applied mathematics.
• Experience with high-frequency design, simulation and measurement.
• PhD preferred; Masters with substantial industry experience also considered.
• Able to work independently in a fast-paced environment.

Responsibilities

• Design and characterize high-speed interfaces for photonic devices (drivers, TIAs, RF interconnects).
• Develop 3D electromagnetic models using HFSS/CST and correlate with measurements.
• Perform RF measurements above 50 GHz and de-embedding with advanced instrumentation.
• Support prototype bring-up, PCB reviews and debugging using Python or MATLAB.

RF/Electronics Engineer - Torquay - Very Competitive Salary

I'm recruiting an RF/Electronics Engineer on behalf of an exciting photonic networking business developing technology for next-generation AI infrastructure and high-performance computing.

Joining a growing hardware team, you'll help turn advanced research into practical products, combining high-frequency electronics design, electromagnetic simulation and hands-on measurement. This is an opportunity to take technical ownership within a flat, collaborative team.

The role:

• Design and characterise high-speed electronic interfaces for photonic devices, including drivers, TIAs and RF interconnects.
• Develop 3D electromagnetic models using HFSS, CST or equivalent, correlating simulations with experimental results.
• Perform RF measurements, calibration and de-embedding using advanced instrumentation operating above 50 GHz.
• Support prototype bring-up, PCB reviews and debugging, using Python or MATLAB for modelling, analysis and lab automation.

About you:

• Strong grounding in RF/microwave engineering, electromagnetics and applied mathematics.
• Practical experience in high-frequency design, simulation and measurement.
• Ideally a PhD in Electronics, Physics or a related discipline, supported by 2-4 years of commercial experience. Candidates with a Master's degree and substantial relevant industrial experience are also encouraged to apply.
• Comfortable working independently in a fast-paced, delivery-focused environment.
• Experience with signal integrity, high-speed SerDes, PAM4, optical communications or silicon photonics would be advantageous.
