Job description

Electronics Engineer (PCB & Hardware Design)

Would you like to join a small, agile team of engineers working on a range of exciting and varied projects? We're looking to add an Electronics Engineer to our team.

About Us

Ex Dynamics offers electronics and mechanical design and consultancy services into the Industrial, Marine, and Global Hazardous Area sectors - ranging from specialist consultation through to full turnkey product design. We work with customers across the world, spanning entrepreneurs and start-ups through to multi-billion dollar global corporations.

The Role

We're looking for a Mid-level Electronics Engineer to join our hardware design team, focused primarily on PCB design and electronics development. You'll work across client projects - from schematic capture and PCB layout through to prototyping, testing, and supporting certification submissions.

This is a great opportunity for someone with strong core electronics skills who's keen to build specialist expertise in hazardous area design - you'll have support from experienced engineers as you get into this niche, no prior experience required.

What You'll Be Doing
  • Designing schematics and PCB layouts in Altium Designer, including multi-layer stackups with EMC considerations
  • Designing digital and power electronics circuits, including protection and sensing functions
  • Prototyping new designs, including soldering and rework
  • Learning and applying hazardous area (ATEX/IECEx, NEC/CEC) and EMC design principles
  • Working closely with firmware and mechanical engineers to deliver complete client projects
  • Investigating and resolving issues found during testing or validation
  • Contributing to design documentation and supporting certification submissions
  • Planning and managing your own time
Ideal Requirements / Experience
  • A minimum of 3 years' experience in electronics engineering
  • A Bachelor's or Master's degree in Electronics Engineering, Mechatronics, or an integrated Mechanical/Electrical Engineering discipline (essential — practical experience alone is not sufficient)
  • Schematic capture and PCB layout experience using Altium Designer
  • A good grounding in electronics theory, including digital and power electronics
  • Strong practical skills in prototyping, including soldering/rework
  • Experience testing new electronics designs, and using the equipment to do so
  • Good work ethic, and ability to work effectively as part of a small team
  • Excellent problem-solving, communication, and collaboration skills
  • Ability to plan and manage time across projects
  • Experience working in a consultancy environment
  • Familiarity with project management and documentation tools
  • Familiarity with ATEX/IECEx or hazardous area electronics
  • Experience designing EMC compliant electronics, and solving EMC issues if they arise
  • Knowledge of relevant industry standards and regulations
Salary and Package
  • The salary and package will be tailored to the individual, based on experience
  • This role is offered on a hybrid working basis, with in-office presence required when the type of work demands it
