Job summary

A recruitment agency is seeking a hands-on Electronics Engineer in East Midlands, UK, to support the design, development, and maintenance of testing equipment. This full-time, permanent position requires a strong background in electronic design, compliance knowledge, and troubleshooting experience. Ideal candidates will have a HND/Degree in Electronics and 3–5 years of relevant experience. Up to 25% travel may be required.

Qualifications

• 3–5 years' experience in electronic design including PCB layout.
• Strong understanding of microprocessors, particularly ARM, FPGA, PIC, and Arduino.
• Experience with maintaining and calibrating instrumentation.

Position

We’re seeking a hands-on Electronics Engineer to support the design, development, and maintenance of specific testing equipment.

Responsibilities

• Develop and maintain digital and analogue electronics for portable ultrasonic systems
• Create technical documentation and ensure compliance with EMC/EMR, CE, and other relevant standards
• Support production teams with high-level fault finding and troubleshooting
• Collaborate on system architecture, prototyping, and supplier coordination
• Assist with equipment installation, commissioning, and ongoing technical support

Qualifications

• HND/Degree in Electronics or equivalent
• 3–5 years\' experience in electronic design, including PCB layout and circuit simulation (e.g. Altium)
• Strong understanding of microprocessor systems (ARM, FPGA, PIC, Arduino)
• Experience with electronic circuit diagrams and maintaining/calibrating instrumentation
• Familiarity with EMC/EMR testing and CE marking processes
• Knowledge of NDT systems, especially for rail inspection
