Position Summary

This is a fantastic opportunity to work within the Hardware Engineering team based in Dundee. This is a multi discipline team developing and supporting complex Mechatronic devices used in banking machines (ATMs) that are deployed worldwide.

We are seeking a Electronic Engineer who will work on electronics development and support projects that deliver new devices and improvements for our 24/7 high availability solutions. The role will specialise using the latest technology and data driven continuous improvement principles. The successful candidate will be a self-motivated team player able to demonstrate good analytical and problem solving skills, understand the importance of attention to detail and have excellent written and spoken communications skills.

The successful candidate will be a highly focused, self-motivated individual who already has a keen interest in electronics and wants to extend their knowledge and skills. The successful candidate should have some knowledge of:

  • Microprocessor & microcontroller based design
  • Digital logic
  • Analogue & Mixed Signal design
  • Stepper & DC motor control
  • Switching power supply design
  • Sensor technologies
  • Schematic entry (ECAD)
  • Simulation Tools
  • PCB layout understanding
  • Prototyping methods, soldering techniques and PCB rework
  • Various lab test equipment experience (meters, oscilloscopes, Logic analysers)
  • Harness design knowledge
  • Knowledge of any of C/C++, VHDL/Verilog, Matlab, National Instruments tools would be an advantage

Qualifications

  • Minimum 2.1 or higher (or equivalent) in Electrical/Electronic Engineering or a related engineering degree.
  • 2 – 3 years relevant work experience in a similar engineering role would be an advantage

Key Responsibilities

  • With the support and mentoring from our senior engineers, perform innovative high speed digital and analogue design for new products
  • Design circuits and draw schematics so that accurate circuit information is available to the PCB designers
  • Support the efficient production, test, qualification and integration of new designs
  • Undertake testing and debugging of our design, ensuring that the design meets the design specification
  • Provide support on product design issues and product improvement (including engineering design, documentation and configuration control)
