Overview
Electronics and Control Engineer — Location: Derby, UK | Salary: £40,000 - £50,000 per year
Key Responsibilities
- Develop and test electronic systems, including design and schematic drawings, for portable NDT equipment.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to create hardware solutions for analogue, digital (FPGA), and computer-based ultrasonic testing systems.
- Provide high-level technical support, troubleshooting, and fault diagnosis for the product range.
- Support installation and commissioning of equipment on customer sites.
- Ensure compliance with EMC/EMR testing and approval processes.
- Maintain accurate technical documentation for compliance with CE marking and other relevant standards.
- Manage hardware change control systems and collaborate with mechanical and software teams to ensure compatibility.
- Drive innovation in NDT products through continuous improvement and prototyping.
Essential Requirements
- HND/Degree in Electronics or a related field.
- 3-5 years of hands-on experience in electronics design, including schematic design, PCB layout, and mixed-mode simulation (e.g., using Altium).
- Strong experience with microprocessor systems (e.g., ARM, FPGA, PIC, Arduino).
- Proficiency in reading and creating electronic circuit diagrams.
- Previous experience with calibration, maintenance, and repair of electronic systems.
- Experience in EMC/EMR testing and ensuring compliance with industry standards.
Desirable
- Knowledge of NDT technologies, particularly in rail inspection.

- Willingness to travel (approx. 25%) required.
