A leading optical technologies company in Ely is looking for an Electronics Engineer to resolve quality issues in defective electronics products. You will collaborate with various teams and utilize diagnostic equipment to improve production processes. Job description

What is the job?
Work in close collaboration with Manufacturing and R&D teams and subcontract vendors, to identify and resolve quality issues in defective electronics products. Integrate improvements into the Motion Control BU and subcontract vendor production capabilities.

Working Hours: Monday to Friday 8.00 am – 4.30 pm
Department: Manufacturing Engineering
Interview process: 2 stage process following shortlisting – First stage: up to 60 minute Teams interview
Second stage: OnSite 1 hour interview


What is essential to us…
Required:
• Higher education qualification in Electronic Engineering or a minimum of 3 years experience in industrial electronics design and diagnostics
• Proven experience of electronics product design and its end-to-end development cycle
• Experience in PCB diagnostics, fault finding and corrective action (digital and analogue)
• Extensive experience in electronics instrumentation and test equipment
• Experience in debugging embedded software in C
• Practical experience of building board level test rigs
• Experience in analogue design: low noise, high bandwidth amplifier design, closed loop design
• Experience of PCB layout design
Desirable:
• Experience in digital design: servo loop design and modelling, control, and data acquisition systems
• Knowledge of testing techniques for electromechanical products
• Experience of Altium PCB design software

What we would like you to do/ to see…
• Utilising a variety of diagnostic equipment and analysis techniques, identify & repair PCB assemblies that have been rejected due to poor quality or functional defects
• Analyse historical technical challenges with Manufacturing and R&D engineers, Supplier Quality Engineers (SQEs) and supply chain partners to identify root causes and implement permanent corrective design changes
• Ensure Design for Manufacturing and Assembly (DFMA) is implemented in any PCB redesign or process modification
• Ensure Design for Compliance is maintained after any PCB redesign
• Ensure board level testing can be implemented by both Manufacturing and subcontract vendors through development of test equipment and procedures
• Working collaboratively with other departments

There are train and bus links to Ely from Kings Cross and Liverpool Street London, and our site is within distance of Ely train station and Ely Bus station.
