Electronics Design Engineer

We are seeking an Electronics Design Engineer for a manufacturer of life-saving electronic solutions. The Electronics Design Engineer will be a key member of the R&D engineering team, responsible for designing, developing, and sustaining electronic hardware products. You will create impactful products that make a positive difference in the real world.

Your role involves working on development cycles for existing products (sustaining engineering) and new product development (NPD). For NPD, you will oversee the product throughout its lifecycle, requiring strong architecture planning, design skills, cost awareness, and documentation skills to ensure efficient manufacturing.

You will collaborate with the existing multidisciplinary R&D team but should also be comfortable working independently.

Electronics Design Engineer – Responsibilities:

1. Product architecture design, cost estimation, and complete electronics design.
2. Analog and digital system, product, and circuit-level design.
3. Hardware qualification testing, including EMC and environmental tests.
4. Collaborate with engineers, production, and production engineering teams.
5. Produce prototypes as needed.
6. Maintain and update existing product designs and documentation.
7. Engage in sustaining engineering decisions, such as testing samples versus datasheet parameters and PCB changes versus component replacements.
8. Component troubleshooting, problem-solving, and root cause analysis.
9. Act as a liaison between R&D and Production for component, supplier, and new product issues.

Requirements:

1. Degree or HND in a related discipline or equivalent qualifications.
2. Proven experience in the full NPD cycle.
3. Strong debugging and problem-solving skills.
4. Ability to review and produce detailed design documentation.
5. Experience with CE and global certification standards (EN61000, EN54, EN12094, UL, FM, NFPA).
6. Expertise in hardware architecture, schematic capture, PCB layout (high-speed, EMC, signal integrity), BOM, and EMC compliance.
7. Experience with microcontrollers and embedded systems: Microchip, STM32, ARM cores.
8. Knowledge of communication protocols: SPI, I2C, Ethernet, I2S, USB, UART.
9. Design of low power, low voltage, low noise mixed-signal circuitry.
10. Embedded digital control and real-time microcontroller solutions.
11. Enthusiasm for continuous learning.
12. Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
