Job description
Overview

At KLA we design, develop, and manufacture high-tech capital equipment for the global semiconductor industry. In this role you’ll be working in our high performing manufacturing team to build and assemble our complex processing equipment. Based at our state-of-the-art manufacturing facility in Newport, South Wales this role presents the opportunity to work with innovative technology and learn precision manufacturing processes!


Responsibilities


  • Manual soldering/wire bonding small electronic components (using a microscope) onto Printed Circuit Board or flex circuit (resistors, capacitors, dies).

  • Handle or attach small components (die, capacitors, resistors) using tweezers and in house build fixture.

  • Mixing compounds to perform manual coating, bonding & encapsulation processes on silicon wafers.

  • Cutting, welding and forming of 40 Gauge wire.

  • Visual inspection using a microscope (20x magnification) for dies, resistors, capacitors to ensure parts meet specifications.

  • Attach small components onto wafer or flex circuit.

  • Perform visual inspection IQC (incoming quality inspection) / OQC (outgoing quality inspection) on raw parts (flex, PCBA, silicon substrate).

  • Operate fixturing/tooling or hand-held electronic equipment (voltmeter, caliper, oscilloscope) to test cable assembly or electronic assembly boxes.

  • Handle dilute chemical solutions (IPA, DI water, acetone, epoxy) to clean products.

  • Responsibilities may include operating CNC machines depending on production needs.


Qualifications


  • Ideally hold A-level or NVQ level qualification(s).

  • Experience in small device assembly, electronic assembly and soldering.

  • Able to read assembly drawings, instructions, and basic blueprints.

  • Ideally have experience in a manufacturing and/or shop-floor environment.

  • Can demonstrate good attention to detail to maintain high production standards and efficiency.

  • Has good analytical skills with a logical approach to problem solving.

  • Experience with MS Office products.


Work Arrangement

This is a permanent position working Monday to Friday. There may occasionally be the need to work on a shift basis due to business requirements.
