Octagon Group in Cambridge is seeking an Electronic Systems Engineer to join its Systems Engineering team, supporting the development and integration of electronic hardware for next-generation products. You will work across analogue, digital, and mixed-signal electronics, collaborating with RF, firmware, software, and systems engineers to verify performance and drive product improvements.

Qualifications

  • Degree in Electronic Engineering or equivalent.
  • Experience in electronic hardware design or systems engineering.
  • Understanding analogue and digital electronics and how they interact in a system.
  • Experience with hardware requirements, specifications, and interfaces.
  • Experience debugging, testing and troubleshooting hardware.

Responsibilities

  • Translate product and system requirements into hardware specifications.
  • Contribute to hardware system architecture and interface definitions.
  • Develop analogue, digital, and mixed-signal electronics including signal conditioning and power supplies.
  • Collaborate with RF, software, firmware and systems engineers to integrate hardware into products.
  • Support schematic development, component selection, and PCB design activities.
  • Develop and carry out hardware and system-level testing to verify performance.
  • Investigate issues during prototype development, integration and testing.
  • Participate in design reviews and support new product introduction.

A new Electronic Systems Engineer job is available in Cambridge with a leading designer and manufacturer of advanced RF and microwave solutions for the telecommunications, space, defence, and aerospace sectors.

Due to continued growth, our client is seeking an Electronic Systems Engineer to join its Systems Engineering team, supporting the development and integration of electronic hardware for next-generation products.

This Electronic Systems Engineer job in Cambridge offers the opportunity to work across analogue, digital, and mixed-signal electronics, with a focus on how hardware, RF, firmware, and software come together within a complete system. Working within a multidisciplinary engineering team, you will contribute from requirements definition and hardware development through to integration, testing, and manufacture.

Key responsibilities for the Electronic Systems Engineer job in Cambridge:

  • Translate product and system requirements into electronic hardware specifications.
  • Contribute to electronic system architecture, hardware design, and interface definition.
  • Support the development of analogue, digital, and mixed-signal electronics, including signal conditioning, power supplies, microprocessors, ADCs, and DACs.
  • Work closely with RF, software, firmware, and systems engineers to integrate hardware into complete products.
  • Support schematic development, component selection, and PCB design activities.
  • Develop and carry out hardware and system-level testing to verify performance against requirements.
  • Investigate technical issues during prototype development, hardware integration, and testing.
  • Participate in design reviews and support new product introduction and ongoing product improvements.

Skills and experience for the Electronic Systems Engineer job in Cambridge:

  • A degree in Electronic Engineering or equivalent industry experience.
  • Experience in electronic hardware design, electronic systems engineering, or hardware integration.
  • A strong understanding of analogue and digital electronics and their interaction within a wider system.
  • Experience working with hardware requirements, specifications, and electronic interfaces.
  • Experience integrating, testing, and troubleshooting electronic hardware.
  • Familiarity with schematic capture and PCB development.
  • Confidence using laboratory equipment such as oscilloscopes, multimeters, logic analysers, and spectrum analysers.
  • The ability to collaborate effectively across multidisciplinary engineering teams.
