Jackson Hogg Ltd has partnered with a leading diagnostics business to recruit an Electronics System Engineer in Newcastle upon Tyne. This permanent, on-site role involves taking design from concept to market in a regulated environment.

You will lead design cycles, work across hardware and firmware, and ensure documentation and traceability meet ISO standards. The team collaborates with global partners to deliver advanced medical devices and next-generation platforms.

Qualifications

• Experienced electronics engineer with strong hardware and firmware knowledge.
• Experience designing PCBs and PCB layouts.
• Hands-on engineering mindset in regulated or process-heavy industries.
• Familiar with ISO frameworks; ISO 13485 exposure is a plus.
• Documentation-first, methodical and traceable design process.
• Excellent communication and growth orientation.

Responsibilities

• Lead design cycles and enhancements across an electronics-heavy medical device.
• Documentation, traceability, and the technical file.
• Deliver design changes driven by new standards or regulatory needs.
• Collaborate with hardware, firmware, mechanical, optical, and microfluidics teams.
• Support verification and validation from a design perspective.
• Interface with global partners including China-based manufacturing.
• Contribute to next-generation platforms with increased throughput and advanced architecture.

Jackson Hogg is delighted to be working with a leading diagnostics business which is scaling up its engineering team due to new international investment. This is for a dynamic electronics engineer who can operate across hardware, firmware, and cross‑functional design areas while working in a heavily regulated environment. You will be involved directly in the design cycle that takes the company’s new technology from concept to the market. This is a permanent, full‑time, on‑site role based in Newcastle.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead design cycles, updates, and enhancements across an electronics‑heavy medical device.
• Documentation, traceability, and the technical file.
• Deliver design changes driven by new standards, global regulatory requirements, or product performance needs.
• Work hands‑on with hardware, firmware, mechanical, optical, and microfluidics specialists.
• Support verification and validation from a design perspective.
• Interface with global partners, including China‑based manufacturing groups.
• Contribute to next‑generation platforms with increased throughput and advanced architecture.

Key Requirements

• Strong background in electronics engineering.
• Experience in PCB design, PCB layout, embedded/firmware literacy.
• Hands‑on engineering mindset.
• Experience in regulated or process‑heavy industries (Medical devices, aerospace, automotive, nuclear, oil & gas).
• Exposure to ISO frameworks (ISO 13485 is a plus but not mandatory).
