Do you want to collaborate in delivering equipment to protect the UK Armed Forces from IEDs?

Due to the continued growth of the business area, we are looking for an Electronics Solutions Engineer to join our Mission Systems team.

This role presents an excellent opportunity for an ambitious individual to develop and grow their skills and knowledge within a thriving organisation.

This is an exciting opportunity to develop state-of-the-art solutions for Electronic Counter Measure (ECM) programmes – providing systems that improve the safety of personnel against threats such as Improvised Explosive Devices (IEDs) or similar in Civilian or Military environments. These systems are utilised on a variety of target platforms with the opportunity to work closely with both partners and end users.

What you will do

The role of an Electronics Engineer (RF focused) within the Electronics Team involves contributing to Digital and RF Systems and Sub-Systems.

The Electronics Team has the following key responsibilities:

  • Providing technical support for the down selection of RF Transceiver and VPX Processor Sub-Systems, including OpenVPX cards.
  • Supporting Fibre and Copper Ethernet Networking (up to 100Gbps), secure storage, and safety electronics designs.
  • Performing Prototype Testing of VPX cards (RF Performance, Capability in SWaP constraints, proof of concept, etc.)
  • Integrating and verifying Systems and Sub-Systems
  • Supporting Qualification (including EMC), Production, and Delivery activities

What we need from you

Essential requirements:

  • Experience defining and analysing RF budgets
  • Experience conducting radiated hazard assessments
  • Experience designing electronic systems through the entire lifecycle
  • Experience designing to meet DEF STAN 59-411
  • Awareness of DEF STAN 61-005

Additional domain experience in EW and ECM, awareness of Land CEMA architecture and open standards, SALTWORKS, OpenVPX, and OpenCPI are desirable.
