Job summary

Electus Recruitment Solutions is seeking an onsite Engineering Technician in Weston-super-Mare to join an established engineering team. You will contribute to research, development and hands-on prototype work within a lab and workshop environment.

The role requires practical mechanical and electronic skills, a Level 3 engineering qualification or equivalent, and the ability to obtain Security Clearance. Benefits include private medical, pension, generous leave, flexible hours and EV scheme.

Responsibilities

• Assemble, manufacture and modify mechanical and electronic components using workshop tools.
• Build and develop engineering systems and prototypes.
• Support R&D activities, including laboratory testing and data analysis.
• Use 3D scanning and manual measurement equipment.
• Carry out fault-finding and diagnostics on machinery and electronic systems.
• Support equipment maintenance, servicing and off-site engineering trials.

Job description

What you will need

• British nationality and the ability to obtain Security Check (SC) clearance.
• Aged 18 or over with a full, clean UK driving licence.
• A relevant Level 3 engineering qualification or equivalent demonstrable technical experience.
• Previous experience in an engineering or technical role.
• The ability to follow technical procedures and apply a methodical approach to engineering tasks.

Your role

Working alongside an established engineering team, you will contribute to research, development and practical engineering activities.

Responsibilities will include:

• Assembling, manufacturing and modifying mechanical and electronic components using workshop tools.
• Building and developing engineering systems and prototypes.
• Supporting research and development activities, including laboratory testing and data analysis.
• Using 3D scanning and manual measurement equipment.
• Carrying out fault-finding and diagnostics on machinery, equipment and electronic systems.
• Supporting equipment maintenance, servicing and off-site engineering trials.

Your experience

• Practical mechanical and electronic engineering skills, including assembly and component modification.
• An understanding of laboratory testing, measurement and technical procedures.
• Good problem-solving skills with an analytical and logical approach.
• Strong attention to detail and the ability to maintain accurate test records.
• The ability to work independently and collaboratively within an engineering team.
• A proactive approach to improving working methods and maintaining safe, organised workshop and laboratory environments.
• Experience or knowledge of electronic soldering, printed circuit board assembly and cable or wire harness manufacturing standards would be advantageous.

Salary and rewards

£30,000 to £45,000 depending on skills and experience.

Where you will be based

This is a fully onsite position based in Weston-super-Mare. You will primarily work in laboratory, workshop and office environments, with occasional off-site travel for engineering trials and testing.

Due to the nature of work at our client's site, these vacancies are only open to British Citizens who can obtain SC clearance.
