Job summary

Embla Medical, based in Livingston, Scotland, is seeking an Electronic Engineer to join our small, highly collaborative team responsible for upper-limb prosthetic technologies. You will contribute across the full product lifecycle, designing electronics and compact PCBs while supporting manufacturing, supplier interactions and regulatory activities.

You will need 4+ years in electronic product development, PCB design experience, and strong problem-solving abilities, with excellent communication

Qualifications

• 4+ years of experience in electronic product development and support.
• Experience designing PCBs in a commercial or industrial environment.
• Exposure to manufacturing, supplier interactions or product support activities.
• Experience with regulatory or compliance requirements.
• Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.
• Ability to communicate effectively with both technical and non-technical stakeholders.

Responsibilities

• Design electronic solutions for both new and existing products.
• Develop compact PCB designs used in advanced prosthetic devices.
• Support manufacturing activities, supplier interactions and product maintenance initiatives.
• Investigate product issues and identify practical, robust solutions.
• Support compliance and regulatory activities, including EMC-related testing.
• Manage component selection and obsolescence challenges.
• Develop test fixtures and support manufacturing test processes.
• Collaborate closely with Software, Mechanical and Manufacturing teams.
• Participate in design reviews, technical documentation, risk analysis and DFMEA activities.
• Contribute to the development of future technologies across our upper-limb product portfolio.
