Position Overview

This role involves designing compact, high-reliability high-voltage (5-10kV) systems for airborne military applications. Responsibilities include specifying design requirements to meet system specifications and providing technical documentation. Key considerations are ultra-small volume, versatility, and high reliability. The individual must adhere to high voltage safety standards and safe working practices at all times.

General Accountabilities

• Design circuits and sub-systems to meet customer requirements, ensuring reliable, manufacturable products that meet cost targets.
• Provide quick, accurate, and competent resolution of technical issues during development, production, and service.
• Verify designs through simulation, testing, and environmental assessments.
• Consider regulatory, legislative, environmental, and safety standards in design.
• Update product build standards post-launch based on continuous improvement, obsolescence, or regulatory changes.
• Identify intellectual property opportunities and drive patent claims as needed.
• Review market trends and technological advances to identify new product opportunities and upgrades, collaborating with business leadership for future development.

Skills and Experience

• Expertise in power electronic systems design, including switch mode power supplies, PCB design, and high-frequency circuits for MILSPEC applications.
• Experience with high voltage (3-10kV) and high power (500W-2kW) systems preferred.
• Knowledge of reliability engineering (MTBF), electronics encapsulation, and failure analysis (DfMEA/FMECA).
• Understanding of electrical safety and safe working practices.
• Proficiency with PCB layout tools, manufacturing techniques, schematic capture, and Mathcad.

Qualifications

• Degree in electronic engineering or equivalent practical experience in the relevant technology.
• Additional education in electronics or related fields is advantageous.

Security Clearance

• Full SC clearance is required; DV clearance is a plus.
