The Role

The Design Engineer is responsible for the design and support of manufacturing of the products. Day-to-day tasks include designing and evaluating electro-mechanical parts, assemblies, and firmware, while supporting the production team.

The Design Engineer’s responsibilities include:

  1. Working within the R&D team to design new systems, circuits, and devices
  2. Developing existing products and technologies
  3. Testing theoretical designs
  4. Writing technical documentation and compiling technical files
  5. Following defined development processes
  6. Integrating designs with other products
  7. Maintaining knowledge of medical standards such as IEC 60601-1 Ed 3, ISO 14971, IEC 62366, ISO 62304, ISO 13485, and FDA guidelines CFR 21
  8. Applying appropriate medical design and product regulations
  9. Testing prototypes and analyzing data
  10. Attending meetings with subcontractors and clients
  11. Keeping up to date with technological and regulatory developments
  12. Preparing product or design reports by collecting, analyzing, and summarizing information
  13. Flexibility to work across departments as needed
