Job summary

Veolia in Marchwood, Hampshire is seeking an Electro Mechanical Technician to help operate and maintain a modern Energy Recovery Facility. You’ll diagnose faults, perform planned maintenance and support plant reliability across rotating equipment, switchgear and PLC systems.

The role requires an engineering apprenticeship and experience in continuous-process environments; you’ll work a staggered 7-day maintenance rota and contribute to a safe, compliant site with ongoing training and development.

Qualifications

• A recognised engineering apprenticeship and relevant electrical and/or mechanical maintenance qualifications.
• Proven experience diagnosing and repairing electrical and mechanical systems.
• Experience in continuous-process, power-generation, industrial or similar operational environment.
• Practical knowledge of preventative maintenance techniques and computerised maintenance management systems.
• Experience working with PLC-controlled equipment, motors, pumps, conveyors, switchgear, transformers, generators, cranes or similar industrial plant.

Responsibilities

• Carry out electrical and mechanical fault-finding, defect rectification and planned preventive maintenance within a modern Energy Recovery Facility.
• Maintain and diagnose faults on overhead cranes, grabs, inverters, battery and UPS systems, transformers, 415V and 11kV switchgear, protective devices, generator AVR and excitation systems.
• Maintain and fault-find rotating equipment, including 415VAC motors, pumps, conveyors, motorised valves and associated control gear.
• Interface with PLC controllers and support the Electrical, Mechanical and Control & Instrumentation teams during plant breakdowns.
• Use electrical test equipment, workshop tools, drilling machines, lathes and bench-fitting equipment.
• Record maintenance activities on the computerised maintenance management system and support 365-day maintenance cover, including rota, weekend and out-of-hours working.
