Electro-Mechanical Production Engineer
Manchester
£40,000 to £46,000 per annum
Permanent, full time

About the role

I’m recruiting on behalf of my client, an award‑winning global engineering and technology company based in Manchester. We’re looking for an experienced Electro‑Mechanical Production Engineer to join the team. This role would also suit an Electronic Production Engineer, Manufacturing Engineer, Production Technician or Process Engineer with experience in electro‑mechanical assemblies or automated production environments.

What you’ll do
  • Work with Design and Development teams to identify continuous improvement opportunities
  • Support smooth transitions from concept through to volume production
  • Monitor and troubleshoot production issues to reduce downtime and maintain product quality
  • Develop concepts and specifications for production equipment
  • Liaise with manufacturers and suppliers of assembly and test equipment
  • Create control plans, work instructions, SOPs and other production documentation
  • Identify and support opportunities for automation
  • Monitor end‑of‑line test data and highlight trends for yield improvements
  • Support the integration of new technologies into production processes
  • Ensure all activities comply with health, safety and environmental standards
What we’re looking for
Must have:
  • Degree in Electrical or Electronic Engineering, or HND/apprenticeship in electromechanical products (or strong industry experience in a similar role)
  • Experience with electro‑mechanical manufacturing in a fast‑paced or high‑volume environment
  • Understanding of problem‑solving tools such as 5Why, 8D and Root Cause Analysis
  • Experience using PLM and CAD systems (ideally Siemens NX / Team Centre)
  • Knowledge of lean manufacturing, Kaizen or continuous improvement methods
  • Hands‑on skills with sensor electronics, physics or assembly automation
Nice to have:
  • Experience in roles such as Automation Engineer, Production Development Engineer or Test Engineer
  • Exposure to automated assembly lines or end‑of‑line test stations
